Fa Cup heartbreak Game 19 VS Shrewsbury
After a great week beating Notts County 6-1 and progre sing through into the FA Cup 2nd Wenyen Gabriel Jersey round, the Daggers had a much tougher fixture list for this week.First up was a league game away to Shrewsbury Town. The same Shrewsbury Town that beat Dagenham 5-0 in the JPT. However, the Daggers gave a performance which underlined that they have come a long way since the days of non league football. Up against a quick, attack minded side, the away side showed great resiliance whilst taking the game to Shrewsbury. Even home fans suggested they had been lucky with the eventual outcome. After a fantastic deserved free kick Tony Carr Jersey equaliser by Sam Saunders, Danny Foster conceded what many thought was not a penalty in the final minute of the game. The experienced Grant Holt stepped up to break Daggers hearts.Although a disappointing result, the Daggers would have taken much heart into the Leceister City. In what on paper look a slight mismatch, the visitors took a deserved lead early on as a great move ended in Matt Ritchie tapping in from 6 yards out. Unfortunately Leceister Josh Hart Jersey equalised straight away following a touch of real cla s from Matty Fryatt. Neverthele s, the Daggers kept their heads and took the lead again midway through the first half. A shot from the impre sive Ritchie was followed in by Ben Strevens who slotted home to give the away side a dream lead. Once again though Julius Randle Jersey Leceister showed they were no soft touches by earning a penalty following a handball from Magnus Okuanghae. Fryatt stepped up to score his 2nd of the day. After half time Fryatt completed his hat-trick albeit from an offside position. The Daggers showed great heart to fight to the end and with a bit of luck would have earnt a replay as the fantastic Matt Ritchie tested the goalkeeper with a great low shot and had a header cleared off the line.Although 2 defeats in a week was the worst po sible outcome, the Daggers performance left their fans with their head held high after taking 2 Darius Miller Jersey quality sides very close. With a bit of luck they would have got more but as they say, luck evens itself out over the season!
